  An opt-in email list can bring you years of very good business, especially if you take the time to building from scratch and maintain it with care. Your opt-in email list may very well be your most important internet marketing tool. An opt-in email list is nothing more than a list of names and email addresses that you receive because people are interested either in the topic you offer or what you have to offer them. Most of the time, people offer business advice, business building tips, and of course, a business opportunity. Building one of these lists is so important that the sale of a cultivated opt-in list can run in the thousands.


Also referred to as permission email marketing, remember that you can not opt-in someone who wants to opt out. You can only send email to those who want the information.

Make sure that it is easy for your visitors to sign up for your email list by pacing the sign up in a highly visible area. Don't plunk it on the last page, but display it loud and clear on your home page and offer links throughout your website directly to your list registration. Continue to spread the word by adding your opt in email opportunity on the signature of all your emails, including your personal and work emails.

Developing subscription cards to carry with you for events and meetings helps you build a list appropriately. Never just sign someone up, but if you go to an event, carry a few cards. If you are out and about and happen to strike up some conversation, offer them a card.

Always welcome all new subscribers with a personal and joyful message. Remind them why they are subscribing and how much you appreciate their subscription. Make sure that you have demonstrated why people would want to be on your list. What are you offering and why is it valuable? Sell the list first, and then worry about selling yourself.

Do not ever spam. Do not add people who have not opted-in and take people off immediately once they have opted out. Never purchase a list that doesn't specifically state obviously that it is an opt-in list and always be ready with a proof offering. You can get in a lot of trouble these days for sending unsolicited email. Make sure you can show people that your list is absolutely opt-in.

Offering great freebies that people can find a lot of value in is a great way to enhance your opt-in list. Free newsletters, tips, advice, even question and answer columns can bring your opt-in list to a new level. Don't be afraid to take some chances but don't abuse the trust that people give you when they opt-in to your list. Remember that the internet is a fabulous place to offer people a better opportunity, but you can't force them. You can only offer.

Reaching out to the community and your opt-in list is a big responsibility, but one with great rewards. Not just financially, but your soul becomes rewarded when you see that you have helped someone elevated themselves to a better life. By giving of yourself you will be received well within the community. By offering some sound advice and utilizing forums, you can become part of the cornerstone of the community. Write short articles (or hire a ghostwriter) to help build credibility and offer up some special giveaways to entice those who are still skeptical. Don't bother with phony representation, but give an honest out look.

Building an opt-in list is a way of simultaneously building your reputation. Take the time to do it right and you will be highly successful. Don't pressure people, just give them the opportunity. By giving out e-books, advice, newsletters, and by approaching the business with great seriousness and a sense of humor, you are most likely going to be able to succeed.
